Yves Bissouma is set to relaunch his career at Ajax, with the former Tottenham midfielder close to signing a short-term deal in Amsterdam.

The 30-year-old Mali international, a free agent since leaving Spurs in June, is in the Dutch capital finalising an agreement that will run until the end of the season, with an option for a further 12 months. His time at Spurs frayed towards the end. In August 2025, then Tottenham manager Thomas Frank omitted him from the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash with Paris St-Germain, citing persistent lateness. It was a pointed decision, and it hung over the remainder of Bissouma’s spell in London.

Now he steps into a very different environment.

Ajax, traditionally committed to youth and technical flair, have increasingly turned to experienced figures to stabilise a squad that has lost some of its old certainty. Bissouma, with his Premier League pedigree and international experience with Mali, offers exactly that: a seasoned anchor who knows the demands of high-level European football.
