Tyson Fury Challenges Oleksandr Usyk for November Fight

Tyson Fury has lit the fuse again. With a blockbuster all-British showdown against Anthony Joshua supposedly next on the schedule, the WBC heavyweight champion is already talking about a different dance partner – and he wants Oleksandr Usyk back in the opposite corner this November.

The Fury–Joshua fight, long billed as the defining domestic clash of this era, is contracted but still not confirmed. Both heavyweights have signed individual deals, yet the bout hangs in limbo while promoters wrestle over the venue. The push from organisers is towards a US staging. Joshua, though, is understood to favour Wembley Stadium, the scene of some of his biggest nights.

That gap between signatures and a signed-off announcement has given Fury room to move – and he has stormed straight into it.

In a fiery, expletive-laden Instagram video, the “Gypsy King” accused Joshua of backing away from the contest and declared he is now actively looking for a new opponent for November.

“This will only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk,” Fury said, turning his attention from the man he has yet to face to the one who has already shared 24 tense rounds with him.

Fury then addressed the Ukrainian directly, dragging Joshua into the message.

“Oleksandr you’re his [Joshua’s] trainer and his sensei and you know he is a weak minded… and that he would never fight the Gypsy King which you have had the guts to do twice.

“You got the decisions last time, fair play to you.

“Good luck to you, let’s do it again. Let’s run it back in November. The ball is now in your court… do you want to fight me this year, 2026, or are you calling quits?

“Let me know because I am now looking for a new opponent.”

The comments throw fresh intrigue into an already tangled heavyweight picture. Fury and Usyk have met twice, with Usyk emerging with the judges’ verdicts on both occasions. Fury, never one to accept the quiet route back, is now openly inviting a trilogy while a mega-fight with Joshua remains stuck on the launchpad.

The contracts say Joshua is next. Fury’s words say something very different. The next move belongs to Usyk – and to the promoters trying to keep the original super-fight alive.
