Dani Gibson Signs New Deal with Somerset Until 2028

Somerset have locked in one of the pillars of their women’s side, with England all-rounder Dani Gibson signing a new deal that keeps her at the club until the end of the 2028 season.

At 25, Gibson is already a central figure. In just eight matches over the past two campaigns, she has piled up 262 runs, including a highest score of 77, and given Somerset a hardened, international edge in the middle order.

Her pedigree is clear. Gibson has featured in six One-Day and 35 T20 Internationals for England, scoring 722 runs and taking 21 wickets across the formats. Those numbers bring instant credibility to any domestic dressing room, and Somerset know it.

Head coach Erin Osborne made no attempt to hide her delight at securing Gibson’s long-term future.

“Any opportunity that we have to get Dani back into our environment is always a positive one,” Osborne said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which you just can't buy.

“We've got a really young group, so any chance they get to spend time around players like Dani and learn from her is a really good one.”

That is the heart of this deal. Gibson is not just runs and wickets; she is a standard-setter. For a youthful squad trying to grow into contenders, four more seasons alongside a current England international could shape a generation of Somerset cricketers.
