Ben Morris to Leave Glamorgan: Young Seamer's Future in Cricket

Glamorgan will part company with young seamer Ben Morris at the end of the season, drawing a line under a brief but intriguing chapter in the county’s pace stocks.

The 22-year-old, born in Abergavenny, has been on the fringes of the first team, making a single County Championship appearance and five One Day Cup outings. His standout performance came in the 2024 One Day Cup, when he returned figures of 3-52 against Essex, a spell that hinted at a bowler with the tools to trouble top-order players.

His most recent first-team appearance arrived in August 2025, a reminder of how limited his opportunities have been in a squad where competition for seam-bowling spots remains fierce.

Morris has built his game across several platforms in Welsh cricket, turning out for the successful Cardiff UCCE side and representing Wales National County, experiences that have kept him match-hardened even when Glamorgan chances were scarce.

"I have enjoyed my time at the club, but I feel I still have a lot to offer in cricket and remain open to new opportunities, while being ready to explore a career away from it," Morris said, laying bare the crossroads facing many young professionals once the county pathway narrows.

His departure makes him the second confirmed exit from Glamorgan this year, following the retirement of 40-year-old stalwart Chris Cooke. One is at the very end of a long, decorated career; the other is only just working out where his truly begins.
