Paris FC Targets Jonathan David After Immobile Retirement

Paris FC’s summer plan was already complicated. Ciro Immobile’s sudden decision to retire has blown it wide open.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the club are now in the race to sign Juventus forward Jonathan David, with the Canada international expected to leave Turin after a difficult first season.

David arrived at Juve from Lille OSC on a free transfer last summer, a smart piece of business on paper for a club looking to refresh its attack. The move never caught fire. He struggled to impose himself, failed to secure a consistent role, and now Luciano Spalletti is ready to move him on. The message from Juventus is clear: David is available.

That alert has reached Paris.

Liam Rosenior has already overseen one major change up front. Willem Geubbels was sold earlier in the window and replaced by Lassine Sinayoko, a move that looked like the main attacking tweak for the coming season. The dressing room then absorbed a jolt: Immobile, expected to give Paris FC one more year of goals and leadership, informed his teammates last month that he would retire.

The announcement ripped a hole in Rosenior’s forward line. One replacement suddenly wasn’t enough.

So the search has widened, and David has emerged as a serious option for Les Parisiens. At 26, with Ligue 1 experience from his prolific spell at Lille, he offers a profile that fits: mobile, sharp in the box, and still young enough to rebuild his momentum after a flat year in Serie A.

The path to a deal, though, is anything but clear.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Atletico Madrid are also in the frame. The Spanish side, with Champions League football and a long track record of reviving forwards, represent heavyweight competition for Paris FC. If Atletico push, the financial and sporting pull could be hard to match.

Paris, then, are trying to sell a different story: a central role, the chance to lead a project, the opportunity to relaunch a career in a league where David has already proved he can score. Juventus want a solution. David needs a platform. Paris FC need goals.
