Burton Albion Sign Caylan Vickers from Brighton

Burton Albion have dipped into Premier League stock to sharpen their attack, landing winger Caylan Vickers from Brighton on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old arrives at the Pirelli Stadium on a two-year contract, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. The fee remains undisclosed, but the intent is clear enough: Gary Bowyer wants pace, direct running and end product out wide, and he wants it now.

Vickers may not have broken through at Brighton, never making a first-team appearance for the Seagulls, but he has already learned the grind of League One. Loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic last season have given him a close-up view of the division Burton must navigate.

That experience is exactly what Bowyer is banking on.

"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," said the Brewers head coach. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."

Vickers came through at Reading before Brighton picked him up as a project with Premier League potential. Now he drops back into League One with something to prove and a manager prepared to trust him with responsibility, not just minutes.
