Hull City Condemns Racist Abuse of Robinio Vaz

Hull City’s welcome message for Robinio Vaz was supposed to mark a fresh start for a highly rated teenager arriving from Roma. Instead, it exposed once again the ugliest side of the modern game.

The club announced the 19-year-old French striker’s season-long loan on social media on Tuesday, only for the post to be swamped by racist abuse. The reaction was so vicious that Hull deleted the announcement entirely.

The club moved quickly. In a strongly worded statement, Hull condemned the “abhorrent racist abuse” aimed at Vaz and confirmed they are working with Humberside Police and other authorities to track down those responsible.
